For the love of tea! champagne and scones!
First thing I did, afternoon tea with the sisters. It’s quite our tradition now I reckon. And we are constantly on a lookout for exciting afternoon tea escapades. So I am glad to stumble upon Cinema Nova here in Melbourne. It is a contemporary cinema, an art house, showing special movies of interest from the classics to the latest.
Cinema dining is not new, I know. We have it in Dubai, which by the way I am yet to try. But high tea at the movies was something new for me. Excited and all, we booked to watch the movie Gatsby which by the way I have seen already, but this time no popcorn and soda thank you.
For 39 Aussie dollars you get one drink (I chose Pimms cocktail), savories and the sweets, and your movie ticket. A sweet as deal I reckon even with the extra 3 dollars for a pot of tea. Did I mention the joys of a not crowded cinema? Served by a waiter, cushions for extra comfort and yes…that warm feeling too 🙂 Definitely will come back.

I love afternoon tea. I’m not a “tea master” but I enjoy the concept of afternoon tea/low tea and high tea (don’t care much about the difference as long as there is tea, pastries, and champagne present). Catch up with friends over dinner and drinks at night…and there is the good ol’ afternoon tea. All proper and posh, champagne, and tier of sweets, scones, and sandwiches. This is one of the things my sisters and I enjoy. Perhaps we’ll start a tradition 🙂
Last Monday we had the pleasure of an afternoon tea at the 5 star Hotel Windsor here in Melbourne. I read negative reviews prior and I was almost swayed not to book there. But we decided to give it a go, after all, Hotel Windsor have been serving afternoon tea since 1883.
The experience was not full of exclamations like when my sisters and I managed to book last minute-ish for tea at the Ritz London. Or in Burj al Arab (was disappointed with the scones there tho). But the hotel is classy. The afternoon tea setting is simple but yes classy. And the main thing was that we enjoyed the afternoon. Plus there was nothing bad to say about the service and the whole experience. I guess lesson learned is that we check for reviews and all but remember that not everyone will have the same exact experience.
I hope that if you happen to be in Melbourne, and up for a nice calm afternoon tea, visit Hotel Windsor. And when you do, I wish you have a nice one as we did. *booking is recommended

I’m in love with macarons. Ever since I’ve discovered Laduree I’ve been addicted to these babies. I’ve tried macarons from other places, some were good too but others disappoint. They can be pricey apiece so when you buy, you want them to meet your macaron standards. And Laduree sets the bar high.
Great thing for me, my little sis is a chef so I managed to convince her to help me make macarons. Rose flavor~my favorite. I told her I’d be blogging about it so I would need to take pictures as we go along the process. And since this is my blog, I would be the one making them and she would just be assisting me.
Of course by the time we are in step 3, I was impatient for the finished product. With my attention span, patience and all, my sister had to take over and I assisted her photo-wise :p
The result is amazing! I can see us opening a macaron shop and I’ll be rich!…I mean we. Lol Anyways below are the photos of our macaron-making day. I planned to write down the recipe for you but since it looked complicated for me I’ll just urge you to google it 😀 Hashtags will help?! 😀 xo
